Baphetoids

Estiveram entre os primeiros predadores bem-sucedidos da história dos tetrápodos. Surgiram há aproximadamente 330 milhões de anos e eram frequentemente encontrados vivendo às margens de rios e lagos no interior dos continentes, assim como nas regiões próximas da costa. Muitas espécies possuíam grandes mandíbulas, repletas de dentes pontiagudos, usados para capturar presas aquáticas.

They were among the first successful predators in tetrapod history. They emerged approximately 330 million years ago and were often found living along the banks of rivers and lakes in the interior of continents, as well as in regions near the coast. Many species had large jaws filled with sharp teeth, used to capture aquatic prey.
